Strong Czech team awaits Canada in junior semifinal

Footballer Tomáš Rosický retires

Tomáš Rosický, the former captain of the Czech football team, announced his retirement at age 37. In his career, he played for Sparta Prague, Borussia Dortmund, and Arsenal London, and earned the nickname "the little Mozart." His career lasted 18 years.

Golden hockey goalie Hnilička to be gov't sport commissioner

Former Czech ice-hockey goalie and ANO MP Milan Hnilička, a gold medalist from the Nagano Olympics, will fill a new post of the government commissioner for sports, which Prime Minister-designate Andrej Babiš plans to establish, Lidové noviny reported.

Malík is new head of Czech Football Association
