Poll: Half of Czechs satisfied with healthcare system

Fifty-two percent of Czechs are satisfied with the country's healthcare system, which is the record highest share that was first reached in 2015 but slightly shrank last year, the CVVM's December public opinion has shown.

Numbers of nuns, monks decreasing in Czech Republic

The numbers of nuns and monks have been dropping in the Czech Republic, owing to a wide range of other opportunities for young people, which makes their decision-making difficult, Archabbot Prokop Siostrzonek, from the Brevnov Benedictine Monastery in Prague, has told CTK.

Czech judiciary must deal with Bartak's case again

The Czech judiciary must reopen the case of physician Jaroslav Bartak, who was given eight years in prison for planning three murders and blackmail, as the Supreme Court (NS) accepted his petition for appellate review, CTK has found out in the InfoSoud court database.

Drahoš to spend ten million on presidential runoff campaign

The team of presidential candidate Jiri Drahos, former Czech Science Academy head, expects to spend ten million crowns on his campaign before the runoff in which he will fight with incumbent President Milos Zeman, Karolina Brennerova, from Drahos's team, told CTK on Monday.

Foreign press: Zeman facing problems with re-election

Incumbent Czech President Miloš Zeman has a bigger reason for fears than it seemed that he will not defend his post in the second round of the election, the Austrian dailies Die Presse and Der Standard wrote on Monday. Die Presse wrote there are many signs indicating that Zeman's rival Jiří Drahoš, who also advanced to the second round, is standing a better chance of winning than originally expected.

Drahoš starts new round of presidential campaign in north Moravia

Interior minister not to lift ex-officer's confidentiality duty

Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar will not lift ex-detective Jiří Komárek's confidentiality duty before Tuesday's meeting of the lower house immunity committee as he does not want to tip the scales in the Čapí hnízdo case on which he has no information, he told Denik.cz on Monday.
