Prague ranked as the 39th most elegant city out of 80 in a survey published by German shoe and fashion online retailer Zalando. Paris came in first place, followed by London, Vienna, Venice, and Florence. New York was seventh and Milan was ninth.

Prague 6 getting solar-powered toilets

Solar-powered portable toilets should appear in some playgrounds in Prague 6 by the end of the year. They will be energy self-sufficient and have a mobile charger on the side.

Changes coming to train travel

A new train timetable that will start in early 2018 will speed up some international travel by up to half an hour. The train numbers should also increase. Night-time travel due to widespread change across Europe will be reduced.

Mezipatra Queer Film Festival coming to Prague

Recent and classic films involving LGBTQ issues will be shown in Prague cinemas from Nov. 2 to 9. Mezipatra will traditionally have different sections. The international feature film competition will present nine films showing the struggles of protagonists to understand not only others but especially themselves.

Wenceslas Square will show its history

Wenceslas Square will have an exhibition called Václavák, which uses historical and contemporary photographs, drawings and quotations to show the history of the city's most important square. Fifteen panels will be displayed on Wenceslas Square from Nov. 3 to Dec. 29.

Czech food stores selling more German food

The two levels of food quality between Eastern and Western Europe has caused Czech customers to look for better quality food from Germany. Imports of food from Germany increased by 9.3 percent to CZK 21.2 billion this year. Surveys carried out in cooperation with the Czech Ministry of Agriculture have uncovered many items sold under the same brand name have lower quality in the Czech Republic than in Germany.
